Hot Stone Therapy - what is it?

Hot stone therapy / massage is a kind of massage that uses treated volcanic rocks such as basalt and basinite that are believed to promote relaxation as well as eliminating negative energy within the client’s body, mind and soul.

These stones are carefully gathered and handcrafted for various sizes, shapes and weights according to what part of the body it will be use on.

It could be as small as the size of the thumb or could be as large as about 2 to 3 pounds of weight.

How does it work?

In most treatments, the stones are put on the chakra points of the body along the spine. The chakra points are the body’s energy center.

It is believed to vitalize the physical body. When stimulated, it balances energy flow throughout the body.

The stones are heated using water with temperature ranging from 120 – 130 degree Fahrenheit although usual treatment requires alternating the use of hot basalt or basinite stones and much colder stones like marble ones.

It is believed that the combination of warmth and cool treatment encourages the body to relax, detox and heal.

I have been an active practitioner for over ten years and have seen the complimentary therapy field flourish around me.

This encouraged me to research the various therapies by traveling around the globe, which broadened my knowledge and helped me obtain unique techniques from the native lands.

I subsequently developed a passion to share my work and skills which lead me to Ireland and the USA where I lectured at schools and promoted Complimentary Therapy at trade shows.

I am a full member of the Association of Reflexologists and follow their codes of Practice and Ethics seriously.

In my experience as a Practitioner I have previously achieved the following:

Successfully treated various aspects and conditions with "Reflexology" and have had broad experience on fertility/pregnancy.

Stimulated Lymphatic drainage and reinforced Respiratory system with "Indian Head Massage".
I have helped to increase flexibility and blood flow to the knees/hips and improved circulation with "Thai Foot Massage".
