Hot Stone Therapy - what is it?
Hot stone therapy /
massage is a kind of massage that uses treated
volcanic rocks such as basalt and basinite to promote
a feeling of relaxation.
The stones come in various sizes, shapes and weights according to the
part of the body it will be used on.
They could be as small as
the size of the thumb or as heavy as 2-3 pounds in
weight.
What can I expect?
In most treatments, the
hot stones are carefully placed on along the spine.
The
stones are heated using water with temperature of 120–130
degrees Fahrenheit, although treatment often alternate the use
of hot basalt or basinite stones and much colder stone like marble.
The combination of warmth and cool treatment promotes a feeling of relaxation
